These same people can mislead you as well when you're trying to buy a house from them.

If you're looking to buy a house, and you speak with one of these people, and they say they have a house for sale, make sure they actually own it - that the deed is in their name.
More often than not, they will have simply taken control of someone's house, using very little if any of their own money - yet will try and sell it as if it is their own.
They will not actually own the house they are trying to sell to you.
While this scheme may work, it may also set up the whole deal for problems and the possibility of failure.
You may want to consider asking the direct question - "Do you actually own this house? If so, prove it - show me the deed in your name." If they cannot produce it, be suspicious - be careful and prudent.
If they don't own the home and you are still interested in buying it, you may wish to speak to the actual owner, directly, to learn all you can about the condition of the home, the nature of the deal they have with the "buy houses" guy and anything else which may affect the safety of the purchase for you.
If it is not a clean and simple sale from home seller to home buyer, there may be risks that can impact you.
Do your best to uncover all of these potential issues and avoid potential problems.
AGAIN - BEWARE of so-called "investors" trying to sell you homes they do NOT own. Do your homework, seek competent legal advice FIRST and form the best decision you can BEFORE you sign.
